Philologists discussed the traditions and prospects of Russian studies with colleagues from India

On 16–17 October, the Head of the Department of the Russian Language at the Faculty of Philology, Ludmila Koltsova, and Associate Professor of this department, Sergey Churikov, took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Russian studies in the global community: traditions and prospects”. The event was organised by the Indian Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (IATRLL) and the International Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL). The meeting was held online in Zoom.

The President of IATRLL, Professor R.N. Menon, the President of MAPRYAL and Counsellor of the President of Russian Federation for Cultural Affairs, Vladimir Tolstoy, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to India, Nikolay Kudashev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Russian Federation, Bala Venkatesh Varma, gave their speeches at the opening ceremony of the international scientific forum.

Relevant problems of the scientific description of the Russian language system, linguodidactics, literary studies, intercultural communication, and translation studies were discussed at the conference. Special attention was paid to comparative studies of the languages of Russia and India as well as the issues of Russian-Indian cultural interactions.
