The international RUR Subject Rankings 2020 has been published. The authors of the ranking analyse the performance of universities in four main areas of training: medical sciences, technical sciences, natural sciences, and biosciences. In 2020, the subject ranking “RUR 2020 Life Sciences” lists 690 universities, including 46 Russian universities. VSU took 480th position among world universities (18th position in Russia), which is 47 positions higher than the last year’s result (in 2019 it was 527th).
The RUR 2020 Medical Sciences ranking includes 574 universities, including 25 Russian universities. This year, VSU took 530th position in the world and 22nd position in Russia. The results of universities’ activities have been evaluated by the RUR ranking since 2010. Since then, 1,100 leading universities from 85 countries have entered the ranking.
The experts of the ranking use 20 criteria to analyse the universities’ activities. These criteria have been grouped into four key areas: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial stability. The ranking provides a wide coverage both in terms of geography and in terms of time, which makes it a unique tool that can help prospective students and employees make the right choice. It can also be used to compare universities on a global scale.
