On 28 January, Elena Sazonnikova, professor at the Faculty of Law, participated in Swiss Ambassador’s Russia award ceremony which took place in theMoscow residency of the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Russian Federation. Elena Sazonnikova had been invited to the event by Yves Rossier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to the Russian Federation.
The award was given in Russia for the first time. The goal of Swiss Ambassador’s Russia award is to popularise the long-time history of cooperation between Switzerland and Russia. It also recognises and encourages efforts aimed at the development of Russian-Swiss relations.
Elena Sazonnikova was invited to the ceremony as a researcher of the professional and personal life of Lev Shalland, Switzerland-born (Fontaines, Canton of Neuchâtel), who was the first dean of the Faculty of Law of VSU in 1918. Her research was published in the monograph “The Faculty of Law of Voronezh State University. The beginning. 1918” (Voronezh, VSU Publishing House, 2017).
Among the participants of the ceremony were: Yves Rossier, the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Russian Federation, staff members of the Embassy, and guests representing different educational institutions, social organisations, and business communities contributing to the protection of Swiss legacy in Russia.
