On 5 February, the team of Voronezh State University "Doctor of Sciences, Professor Shvarzengolt” for the sixths time became the absolute champion of the National Student Marathon, which was held between 1 and 5 February in Sochi. Among the competitors were 500 students from 30 Russian universities.
The programme of the festival was very eventful: it included creative, sport, and intellectual events: park volleyball, bowling, laser tag, speed cubing tournaments, the make-up and costume competition “The world of cosplay”, the intellectual games “WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?" and “Brain-Ring”, the barmen show “Marathon cocktail”, the singing competition “The voice of the world”, the decorative and applied arts competition “Ecobana”, the dancing competition “Dance with me”, the intellectual tournament “Svoya Igra”, an indoor soccer tournament among men, the cyber tournament “FIFA 20”, and the National Humour Cup. On the last day of the event, the teams presented their best performances and winners of the competitions were announced.
“For me, two emotions dominated during the first week of February. They were pride and admiration. I admire the talents of our students, their incredible efficiency, creativity, composure, artistic taste, intelligence, and their sport achievements. I am proud that these amazing people chose to study at our university, that I have a chance to work with them and to do my best to help them and contribute to their victory. Success in creative activities, sport, and intellectual games charge you with energy for the whole year. This year, a lot of new and young members joined the team. For example, Ilia Perelygin, VSU representative in the speedcubing tournament, is a first year student. He is just 16 and it was his first national competition. His result in the tournament was 16 seconds and this was a convincing victory. He was 15 seconds faster than his closest competitor”, said Alexandra Nazarova, the Head of the Department of Student Affairs. “It was pleasing to see that our performances and athletes were supported not only by VSU fans but also by other participants of the festival. Our competitors shook hands with the members of our team, gave a standing ovation, and expressed their admiration after the competitions.”
The festival was organised by Students’ Coordination Council of the National Academic Trade Union and Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University with the support of Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Trade Union of Workers of Public Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the resort complex “AKVALOO”.
