Students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences awarded with certificates inside the video game Allods Online

On 15 July, graduates from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences of Voronezh State University received their diplomas. VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky, Deans Eduard Algazinov and Alexander Shashkin, and Sergey Mardanov, Director for interactions with universities at Mail.Ru Group, congratulated the students.

“Today is an important day. Students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences of Voronezh State University receive their diplomas! Traditionally, this event was held in Admiralteyskaya Square. However, we always keep up with the times. That is why VSU is the first university in Russia which took a risk to organise the most unusual graduation ceremony in the country. Our meeting was made possible by the close and fruitful cooperation between VSU and Mail.Ru Group. Remember, that our graduates are always ready to give a helping hand to a friend. They are strong-willed and fearless and stand for their ideas. They are not afraid of difficulties and never give up. We believe that your open-mindedness, eagerness to learn new things, and spirit will drive you towards great discoveries which our university will be proud of,” said VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky.

Sergey Mardanov, Director for interactions with universities at Mail.Ru Group, said that this graduation ceremony is a dramatic and unusual event:

“I’ve played Allods myself recently and now I am here, in-game, with a nice mission to complete. VSU is not only the alma mater for many of our game development employees, it is a source of creativity and bold ideas which we can make come true. This graduation ceremony is a good example. Who could imagine a year ago that the administration and graduates of a classical university would hold a ceremony in an online game? The union of business and industry is beneficial to both. Together we can solve major challenges in education and the development of the university and the society.”

Eduard Algazinov, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, wished the students good luck and emphasised the advantages of a university education:

“You received a very good education at Voronezh State University. This provided you with an interesting profession and a path to material wealth. Today, you enter an absolutely new world. And what it will be like depends on you! I wish you a lot of success! And remember your university, lecturers, and fellow students!”

Alexander Shashkin, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, emphasised that all VSU graduates are well-trained specialists:

“The knowledge that you received while studying at the university is a guarantee of a rightful place in life. All of you have a chance to become real professionals! Bring it on!”
