Between 1 and 4 September, the Joint Students' Board of Voronezh State University organised an online quest for first year students. For three days, just over 200 students took part in intellectual and creative competitions: they had to answer quiz questions about the history of Voronezh State University, famous scholars, and faculties and used materials at hand to create costumes and elements of stage sets. They also created sketches and events for future first-year students.
The 15 teams of 10–13 people each consisted of representatives of different faculties and an upper-year student who supervised the team and whose task was to hold it together before the quest started and to boost its performance. At 10 am each morning, the supervisors sent tasks to their teams and controlled their accomplishments.
“We wanted the first year students to start their student life in an interesting way. And then we came up with an idea to hold a quest. There were no restrictions and the teams could use the full scope of their imaginations. The more creative their solution was, the more points they got. The students were allowed to search for answers to the quiz questions on the internet or ask for help from upper-year students and representatives of students’ clubs. The participants distributed the tasks: some people worked on a creative task and others answered the quiz questions,” said Alina Semenko, the Head of VSU's Joint Students' Board.
POLARSTAR became the winner of the competition.
