Good news has arrived from Senegal: Ousseynou Tall, PhD in Philology, a former student of the Department of General Linguistics and Stylistics of Voronezh State University, became the new Head of the Department of Russian and Slavic Languages and Civilisation of Cheikh Anta Diop University.
Ousseynou Tall defended his PhD dissertation in the Russian language on 30 June 2011 at the dissertation board at the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University. The topic of his dissertation is “Semantics and using lexical units with the semantic field “GUEST” in Russian”. He studied all Russian vocabulary referring to the concept “guest” in Russia, described the meanings, and used the obtained material to analyse its role and function in Russian culture. He also developed the main principles for the method of generalisation of definitions from different dictionaries which is currently widely used in grant-funded projects, PhD dissertations, and dictionaries created at the VSU Communication Studies Centre.
Our graduate has been conducting research, cooperating with the Faculty of Philology, has regularly had his works published in scientific journals of the VSU Communication Studies Centre, and has taken part in scientific conferences. Ousseynou Tall speaks fluent Russian, English, and French.
