Undergraduate and postgraduate students and teachers from the Department of French Philology of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology are taking part in cooperation between the Voronezh Region and the French corporation Lidea, a leading seed producer in Europe. The corporation resulted from the merge of Euralis Semences and Caussade Semences Group following which the company entered the top ten largest seed selection and production companies in the world. In the Pavlovsk District, which is an area of advanced social and economic development, Lidea is implementing a large investment project: it is constructing a Tanais Semans plant for production of oil-seed crops.
Students of the specialist’s programme “Translation and translation studies” and the master’s programme “Linguistic support for project activities in international cooperation (in the area of education, culture, and business)” are working in this project as translators and project managers. Elena Alexeyeva, the Head of the Department of French Philology, supports the translation services during the negotiations between the administration of the company and the government of the Voronezh Region. For example, she interpreted during the foundation stone ceremony with the participation of Alexander Gusev, the Governor of the Voronezh Region, and Flye Sainte Marie Pierre, the General Director of the LIDEA.
