A Polish-Russian and Russian-Polish dictionary of military and associated terms was published. The two volumes contain about 17,000 words and terminological phrases. The books present the terms that are used by the armed forces of Poland and its Russian equivalents, as well as a dictionary of false friends for translators.
The study guide was developed by Anatoly Leonov, PhD in Philology, at the Military Training Centre of VSU with the help of Kazimierz Kraj (Poland), Doctor of Safety Science, Professor at the Jacob of Paradies University, and member of the Society for the study of history of Russian security services. As VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky mentions in the foreword of the book, “our university has been cultivating a relationship with Poland for a long time”.
“Voronezh State University is cooperating with a number of Polish universities under agreements between universities.” The cooperation involves joint research projects, the organisation and hosting of bilateral symposiums, seminars, and scientific conferences, and the mutual exchange of teachers, researchers, and students, as well as joint publications.
The dictionary is intended for the students of the Military Training Centre of VSU studying military translation.
