Professor Michael Wilson, Head of Creative Arts at Loughborough University, gives a lecture at VSU

On 12 February, Professor Michael Wilson, Head of Creative Arts at Loughborough University, gave an online lecture “Storytelling and the digital revolution: how technologies have changed us as storytellers and what remained unchanged”. The lecture was the first meeting in a series of events that will be held by the storytelling experts within the joint educational project of Loughborough University and VSU supported by the Department of Culture and Education of the British Embassy in Moscow acting with the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.

The rector of VSU, Dmitry Endovitsky, opened the meeting. He noted that the relationships with British universities have always been important throughout the history of VSU.

“I’m sure that today’s meeting is just the beginning of a long-lasting cooperation between Loughborough University and VSU. We are willing to discuss and implement joint educational, research, and cultural projects.”

The next meeting will be held on 24 February. It will be a practical seminar “Studying digital storytelling” which will be held for the students and lecturers of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology by the experts in the field of creating digital narratives, a lecturer from Loughborough School of Design and Creative Arts (London, Great Britain) Antonia Liguori and a public relations specialist from the Smithsonian Center for Learning and Digital Access of Smithsonian Institution (Washington, USA) Philippa Rappoport.

The event is held within the UK-Russia Creative Bridge 2020–21 programme organised by the Department of Culture and Education of the British Embassy in Moscow with the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.
