The students' puppet theatre "Bi-Ba-Bo” from the Borisoglebsk branch of VSU took part in the reenactment of street life at the end of 19th – the beginning of the 20th century in Borisoglebsk “In Dvoryanskaya”. The event was held on 15 May as part of the celebrations dedicated to the Day of the City in Borisoglebsk. The theatre presented the first performance of the play “The Scarlet Flower” based on the fairy-tale by Sergey Aksakov.
16 students from the branch took part in the performance. New stage sets and puppets had been created for the play.
“There are two reasons why we chose the fairy-tale “The Scarlet Flower”. Firstly, this play was in the repertoire of the community puppet theatre which was first organised by enthusiastic people in Borisoglebsk in 1918. Secondly, in October it is the 230th anniversary of the author of the fairy-tale, Sergey Aksakov,” said Vera Pugach, a lecturer and the theatre director.
Another event held as part of the reenactment of the street life “In Dvoryanskaya” was the contest of historical costumes. Vlada Bezrukova, a student from the branch, and a lecturer Vera Pugach took part in it.
“I wore a costume of a governess, and Vera Pugach was dressed as a princess. We not only demonstrated historical clothes, our ability to wear them and to use the accessories, we also told the audience about the elements of the costume and presented our characters. The performances were assessed by a committee consisting of representatives from the Chernyshevsky Drama Theatre, the city library, and the museum. I was awarded with a photo session certificate and Vera Pugach won a trip to Sochi,” said Vlada Bezrukova.
