The Pgconf.vrn IT meetup gathers 120 participants

The Pgconf.vrn IT meetup organised by Dom.RF, VSU, and Postgres Professional was held in the main building of Voronezh State University. It gathered over 120 participants with the speakers being top IT experts.

Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technologies at Dom.RF Alexander Styagov made a presentation about the company. Vadim Yatsenko, head of the department of information technologies, talked about using PostgreSQL database management system as a main system for corporate data storage. He also described a pilot project involving GreenplumDB, its results, the advantages and disadvantages of both solutions, and their architecture.

A well-known Russian developer of PostgreSQL and CEO of Postgres Professional Oleg Bartunov talked about the development prospects of PostgreSQL, the current challenges facing the IT community, and the existing solutions.

“Our company decided to organise professional events together with our colleagues where we could share our experience and learn about the main trends concerning PostgreSQL. Such events give us an opportunity to meet young specialists, learn about new trends, and share experience,” said the lead manager of the Career Centre of Dom.RF Ekaterina Romanenko.
