VII Festival of the Russian Language for International Students in Russia

On the 22–26th April, 2014, the VII Festival of the Russian Language for International Students in Russia took place. It was organized by the VSU International Education Institute with help from the Russky Mir Foundation and the Russian Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (ROPRYAL). The Festival is an event of national significance. It helps Russia to establish and develop cultural dialogue with other countries.

The Opening Ceremony was held on the 22nd of April at VSU Concert Hall. During the ceremony all the participants made presentations of their universities and cites. In the following three days, the contestants demonstrated their knowledge of the Russian language. The results were announced at the closing concert with performances from the winners, and various artistic teams of Voronezh.

Let Us All Join Hands

On 3rd December, 2014, a gala concert of the international song and dance festival “Let Us All Join Hands” took place in the Voronezh circus building. This was the 11th event organized by the VSU Institute of International Education in collaboration with the City Department of Culture, and held under the motto “For international understanding, against racism and violence”.

This year, the Festival brought together over six hundred participants – international students from Voronezh universities, the representatives of national diasporas, and performing groups from all over the country, with a repertoire of various international songs and dances.

During the first two rounds, the participants presented over one hundred and fifty performances to the panel of judges. On top of that, exhibitions of decorative and applied artworks took place in local study centres, tourist companies, and language schools, as part of the Festival.

The traditional gala concert featuring a diverse programme included the best performances and became a bright and impressive conclusion to the Festival. The national songs and dances of various countries presented by solo performers and bands won over the audience with their amazing sincerity and ingenuity.
