The 7th Platonov Art Festival will take place in Voronezh between 2 and 14 June 2017. Representatives from 18 countries from 5 continents will take part in the event.

The programme of the forum is traditionally comprised of Theatre, Music, Exhibitions, and Literature sections. It represents all the diversity of forms and traditions of the world’s art: drama, choreography and opera, visual and synthetic theatre, classical music, jazz and World Music, painting and graphics, video-art and installations, prose, poetry, and playwriting. We pay a lot of attention to unique projects and try to show as many premier plays as possible.

The festival, named after the outstanding 20th century prose-writer, Andrei Platonov, has been held in his home city since 2011. The special Platonov festival programme includes plays based on his works as well as pieces of art that tune in to the spirit and time of Andrei Platonov.

All theatres and concert halls of Voronezh will become venues for events of the Platonov Art festival. Most of them are located in the city, within a short distance from each other.

Apart from traditional halls, parks, and squares the “geography” of the festival will include unusual and astonishingly beautiful venues: the park in front of the princess Oldenburgskaya’s palace in Ramon, where music concerts are held; the Kommuna art centre, which is located in the building of the former printing house of the Kommuna newspaper (39B, Prospekt Revolutsii) for which young Andrei Platonov wrote his texts; or the beach of the White Well chalk quarry which houses World Music concerts.

The festival also offers a number of free events which do not require entrance tickets. One of the most spectacular and impressive events of this kind are performances by street theatres and the Theatre Parade which every year marches down Prospekt Revolutsii on 12 July. Among the participants of the parade are stilt-walkers, mimes, dancers, and musicians from different countries.

Thanks to the varied programme of the festival, the events of which last non-stop for two weeks in June, the summer in the city starts with a big art festival.
