Between 27 and 28 October, the 13th Voronezh Region open masters swimming championship was held. The event was dedicated to the university centenary. 107 athletes from 17 clubs of the Swimming Federation "Masters” took part in the tournament. Representatives of the Lada club from Samara and the Katran club from Sochi were among new participants of the championship. The most experienced swimmers were Valentin Stepushkin from Lipetsk (aged 82) and Tatiana Feltsova from Voronezh (aged 71).
Every year, the organisers try to introduce some novelties to the event. This time the participants enjoyed a performance by the dancing group Pulse that opened the competition. As usual, the jury of the tournament showed their professionalism. A senior coach from the swimming pool of Voronezh State University, Yury Perin, took part in the event as an authorised representative of the "Masters" Swimming Federation.
Among the participants of the tournament were the following trainers from the swimming pool of Voronezh State University: Ludmila Bukhtayeva, Natalia Ismailova, Yulia Avdeyeva, and Yury Perin. All of them were among prize-winners of the competition. At the end of the event, the winners were awarded with medals in the shape of water drops. The event used a computer-aided record of results which currently is only available at the swimming pool of Voronezh State University.
