On 31 August, the ASR (Association of ratings, ranking, and other performance evaluation systems) published the Moscow International University Ranking entitled “Three university missions”. The ranking was created by the Russian Rectors' Union following the instructions by the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
This year, 1,650 universities took part in the competition (last year there were 1,500 participants). VSU entered the group ranging from 1201 to 1300 in the global rating and the group ranging from 51 to 62 among Russian universities. The ranking includes universities in 97 countries, including 112 universities in Russia.
The Moscow International University Rating is designed to rate the three key missions of a university: education, science, and interactions with the public. The sources of information include the data provided on the websites of the universities and national authorities and those obtained from independent international sources and leading platforms for massive open online courses. The experts analysed information from Wikipedia, Google, Yandex, Baidu, as well as social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, VK, and Sina Weibo. The other sources included information published on the websites of international student competitions and academic awards included in the IREG List of International Academic Awards.
