Since 28 February, 20 boxes of humanitarian aid have been collected at Voronezh State University for refugees from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. During one week, 30 volunteers from various student organisations of VSU worked at the collection points. Clothes and other goods were provided by 80 people.
Donations can include seasonal clothing (for adults and children), hygiene products for children (nappies, wet wipes, diapers, household chemicals), hygiene products for adults (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste), and household textiles (bath towels, bed linen). The organisers note that both new and used items can be donated, but they should be in good condition.
A full list of items is available at the information board. It is also possible to help as a volunteer: for any questions, please contact the volunteer coordinator Maria Khoroshilova.
Furthermore, last week employees from the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, together with volunteer psychologists from Lomonosov Moscow State University, visited the Raketa children’s recreation camp (Liski), where orphans from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics were accommodated. The volunteers provided playtime therapy for children aged 3 to 6.
“We met refugees from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics at the train station, then we went to the Kirovets camp, where we assisted them with registration. In addition, representatives of the VSU SVE organised a quest around the camp for the children. Snow Landing teams were also formed, they are already working with parents and children,” commented Yana Barkalova, the commissioner of student teams.
