On 21–25 February, Garik Galstyan, professor at the University of Lille, France, visited VSU to deliver lectures on translation and translation studies, multiculturalism, and the methodology of teaching foreign country studies. Students and professors from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology and the Faculty of International Relations were excited to attend the lectures. The scholar visited the university under a cooperation agreement between VSU and the University of Lille, as well as part of the Erasmus+ joint European academic mobility project. He discussed the results of the cooperation with Professor Elena Alexeyeva, Head of the Department of French Philology at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, the coordinator of the cooperation programme on VSU’s side.
Among other things, they discussed the joint publication of research papers based on the research panel “Le multiculturalisme à travers le prisme de la cohésion sociale et politique” (“Multiculturalism through the prism of social and political integration”). The event was held at VSU in November 2021 in collaboration with the University of Lille and the University of Nantes.
Student exchange programmes continue to expand: this academic year, VSU and the University of Lille have six students each receiving scholarships under the Erasmus+ programme. During his visit to Voronezh, Garik Galstyan had a meeting with French students studying at VSU and those VSU students who had studied in Lille the previous semester, in order to get their views on the organisation of their studies. The possibility for French students to undertake practical training at Voronezh companies was also considered.
