On 19 April, as part of the annual April student scientific session, the Faculty of International Relations of VSU held a section “Contemporary issues of international relations and cross-border interaction in the Eurasian space”. The co-organiser of the event, which was held online, was the Faculty of History, Communication, and Tourism of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University (Republic of Belarus). It was also attended by students from universities in Minsk and Yekaterinburg.
A total of 17 reports covering a wide range of issues were presented during the section. They were focused on the issues of intergovernmental cooperation and the development of international organisations within the Eurasian space under the pressure of Western sanctions. Special attention was paid to interethnic relations, ways of achieving mutual understanding between peoples, and the preservation of their traditions and cultural characteristics.
The reports captured the audience’s attention and were followed by a heated discussion. Lecturers from Grodno noted that students from the Faculty of International Relations were well-trained and interested in research. They especially praised reports by fourth year students: Danila Kopeikin talked about the role of nuclear energy in the foreign policy strategy of Russia and Ilya Shamraev talked about the peculiarities of the politics of memory in Belarus, Poland, and Ukraine.
