On 20, 21, and 22 April, a business game “Build a Company. Sell the company” was held at Voronezh State University. Students from different faculties of VSU took part in a business training within the framework of the federal project “Platforms of University Technological Entrepreneurship”. Among the experts of the event were:

  • Vladislav Bogdan, General Director of OOO Sport Innovations, awardee of the grant for the “Student Startup” programme;
  • Maria Kostromina, Head of educational projects and programmes, business consultant, tracker, and teamwork moderator;
  • Anton Popov, digital transformation expert with 20 years of experience in creating and managing innovative projects.

The simulator of entrepreneurial competencies, business game “Build a company. Sell the company” allows students to try themselves as a technological entrepreneur and spend a day experiencing typical business situations. The participants of the training learnt about the basic principles and tools that are necessary to create a tech startup as well as about the methods of developing a project’s IP strategy and discovering how the investment attractiveness of a project can be assessed. They also learned what the concept of a minimum viable product (MVP) means. In addition, during the game, the teams worked out the business model for their startup and presented it to “investors” to raise funds for development.

“The training gives students the opportunity to try themselves as technological entrepreneurs in a safe gaming environment. The training scenario is based on the experience of over 500 startups. The participants of the game face the most typical business situations characteristic of technological business. The game recreates economic relations between players which involves a lot of uncertainty and the need to work hard and to make quick and tough business decisions. This makes the gaming experience as realistic as possible,” said Svetlana Andreeva, Development Director at TEN Education. “Of course, the distribution of roles in the startup team plays an important role, it allows you to work effectively within the project team. Our training allows students to find their place and choose the role that suits them best: entrepreneur or engineer and to behave within this role throughout their participation in the startup. These trainings are useful for everyone who wants to try themselves as an entrepreneur. It does not matter what your faculty or speciality is. We start with evaluating entrepreneurial competencies among the participants, for example risk tolerance, discounting outdated solutions, screening of economic chances, and activities planning. Our experience shows that students from different study areas, humanities, engineering, and economic, can demonstrate good results.

Over 200 participants spent three days obtaining knowledge in the field of tech entrepreneurship, organising the work of their teams, creating a plan how to launch “smart business”, identifying their competencies and abilities, studying the needs of their clients, and developing a value proposition.

The following trainings of entrepreneurial competencies will be held on 26, 27, and 28 April at the address: Canteen, 1 Universitetskaya Ploschad, Main Building of Voronezh State University, Voronezh. The event starts at 10:00, registration opens at 9:00.

To participate, you need to register on the project platform “Trainings of Entrepreneurial Competencies” and register for the VSU training course “Tech Entrepreneurship Business Intensive Course”:
