During the visit of Maksut Shadaev, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, to the Voronezh Region, the first Sitronics Group laboratory was opened. The laboratory is aimed to develop the Advanced Engineering School of VSU. Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, Pavel Dreiger, Vice-President of Sitronics IT for Software Products and Solutions, Dmitry Endovitsky, Rector of VSU, and Alexander Krylovetsky, Dean of Faculty of Computer Sciences, gave speeches during the opening ceremony.

“We have been cooperating with Sitronics in many areas. We began to interact with the company just recently, but we have already implemented many projects, held a number of joint olympiads and hackathons, and introduced the company's courses into the curriculum,” said Alexander Krylovetsky.

VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky said that Sitronics takes an active part in the educational life of the university demonstrating an example of socially responsible business:

“Voronezh State University is one of the leaders in Russia in training IT students. In December 2023, the university received the status of the Advanced Engineering School “Russian Electronics, Radio Communications, and Info-Communication Technologies”. The Sitronics laboratory will allow enhancing the educational process by providing the university with a better computer equipment for training specialists in computer modelling and software.”

“We have been engaged in active collaboration with Voronezh State University for several years. This university trains highly qualified IT specialists, many of whom work in our development centre in Voronezh. A programming laboratory is our contribution to the preparation of IT personnel, to the development of the university and the industry as a whole. Here, experienced developers of the company will train students to create software products for key sectors of the economy. They will teach students to work with maps, geoinformation systems, large data array, and distributed computing,” said Igor Kalganov, President of Sitronics IT.

Pavel Dreiger, Vice-President of software products and solutions at Sitronics IT, said that in the future it is planned to open at VSU and provide with equipment the aerospace laboratory, which will work within the framework of the Advanced Engineering School (AES) project. In this laboratory students will be taught to design and program spacecrafts, develop payload, work with radio signals, and analyse satellite data. Students will be able to participate in the development of real space services and systems used to solve applied problems.

During his visit to Voronezh State University, Maksut Shadaev, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, visited the computer graphics laboratory in room No. 293, and the Severstal-Infocom training centre in room No. 297, where he learnt about technical developments of VSU students.

“The Voronezh Region has a traditionally strong IT cluster. It is active and dynamic. It is represented by many companies operating not only in the region, but throughout the country. I was pleased to see that Voronezh State University cooperates with many IT companies in terms of joint departments and laboratories. Such projects are good examples of interaction between business and the university, which enables training personnel for our economy,” said Maksut Shadaev, Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.

Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, said that he was pleased to communicate with students who complete both interesting and high-demand projects. The Governor of the Voronezh Region expressed confidence in the need for further implementation of IT projects in the region:

“Of course, such promising areas are being studied by our companies. Judging by the way the economy is developing in IT companies, we can say that, without a doubt, they are moving in the positive direction. There are such modern popular technologies as, for example, 3D visualisation and a lot of content is being developed in this sphere. Today I was very pleased to communicate with students and see that they do not just complete some interesting projects, they are developing projects which are in demand. I am also confident to say that we will provide support to projects in the area of medicine, so these solutions might be used in the future. This year, we will allocate a lot of funds to digitalisation of healthcare and Maksut Shadaev supported out initiative to build programming School 21 which will contribute to training IT specialists. So, we will start implementing this project,” said Alexander Gusev.

The Sitronics Group laboratory was equipped as part of the project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia to create competence centres at universities to enhance human resources and scientific and technical potential in various sectors of the economy. The laboratory was equipped by Russian IT developer Sitronics Group which is an industrial partner of Voronezh State University. In December, the project of Voronezh State University to create an Advanced Engineering School (AES) “Russian Electronics, Radio Communications, and Info-Communication Technologies” was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
