A team from the Department of Special Training of the Military Training Centre of Voronezh State University took part in the 8th International Olympiad among Cadets of Higher Education Institutions in Foreign Languages, which was held in Novosibirsk between 24 and 29 March.
During the four rounds of the Olympiad, the team from the Military Training Centre of Voronezh State University had a chance to apply their knowledge and skills in translation. What is more, they could test them in conditions very close to real ones. Students met cadets from all around Russia and thus learnt about the life of future military specialists in different regions of the country. They also gained useful knowledge and invaluable experience, both in translation and their military specialities.
As a result of the Olympiad, the team from the Military Training Centre of Voronezh State University took third place in the third round, in which students had to compete in two-way consecutive interpreting, and fourth place in the overall competition among eight teams with specialised training.
The participants of the event will cherish the memories of this amazing trip and the knowledge which they gained in the heart of Siberia will help them make new achievements in mastering a foreign language. The team from the Military Training Centre of Voronezh State University would like to express their gratitude to the Department of Student Affairs of VSU and personally to Alexandra Nazarova for organising this trip.
