VSU's Department of Pre-University Work is currently taking part in the "Children for Children" fundraising festival organized by the Voronezh regional branch of the Russian Children's Foundation.
The festival started on 16th December in the Voronezh Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The opening ceremony started with Vladimir Klyuchnikov – Chairman of the Regional Duma and Head of the Children's Foundation committee – awarding 17 talented children and their tutors with personal scholarships and encouraging everyone to take part in the festival. Previous years' scholarship holders (Liza Antonova, the Mingalev brothers, and Vladimir Shabashov), who are now well-known musicians and singers, performed at the event.
In the audience, there were a lot of children from specialized schools and foster homes. They especially enjoyed the "Nutcracker", whose cast were kids aged 3–16, including disabled children.
In the foyer, a charity fair of children's works was held. The money raised there was used to help seven kids diagnosed with ICP. The festival is going to last for six months. Children's song and dance groups, as well as sports school students and members of the young mechanics' club, are going to be performing at various venues during that time. The funds raised from all the events will be directed to treating and supporting kids with disabilities.
The festival is to close on 1st June, International Children's Day.
