On 20th and 21st March, Sambo competitions in nine weight categories were held in the gym of specialized children and youth sports school of the Olympic Reserve № 33. Among the participants there were 67 sportsmen from eight universities. According to the results of the competitions, Voronezh State University team took the second team prize with 24 penalty points. The first prize was awarded to the team of Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (11 penalty points) and the third prize was given to the sportsmen of Voronezh State Technical University (39 penalty points).
In the individual event the first prize was taken by a fourth year student of the Mathematics Faculty Aleksandr Trukhachev (the weight category 82 kg). A first year student of the Faculty of Geology Dmitry Shestakov (the weight category 52 kg) and a fifth year student of the Faculty of Applied Mechanics and Mathematics Andrey Chukhlebov (the weight category 100 kg) won the second prize. The third prize winners were: a first year student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences Maksim Andrianov (the weight category 52 kg), a third year student of the Faculty of Physics Aleksey Prokopenko (the weight category 57 kg), a first year student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences Adrey Trukhachov (the weight category 68 kg), a third year student of the Law Faculty Dmitry Shemenev (the weight category 90 kg) a fifth year student of the Law Faculty Pavel Saratovskiy (the weight category 100 kg). A first year student of the Faculty of International Relations Aleksey Kolenikov was the fourth in the category of 62 kg.
The coach of the team is a teacher of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of VSU – Artur Masalov.
