In August our delegation including the members of the B.M. Kozo-Polyansky Botanical Garden (the director A.A. Voronin and researcher L.A. Lepeshkina), the Faculty of Biology and Soil Studies (Professor M.Yu. Grabovich and Associate Professor L.I. Brekhova), and the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism (Professor A.Ya. Grigorievskaya and lecturer D.R. Vladimirov) went to Tibet upon the invitation of the Sichuan Natural Resources Research Institute within the framework of the agreement between the Institute and VSU signed in 2013. This was the second meeting in the last few months, and it was quite successful. Apart from field research, there were also meetings with Chinese researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, lectures and reports on contemporary issues.
The meetings also determined the priority areas for collaboration, which are the problem of desert invasion of the Tibetan Plateau, stock control and eliminating invasive plants in the Sichuan province. Both parties were quite pleased with the results and are willing to collaborate in the future.
