On October 1, a unique exposition "Egypt through the ages" was opened at the Kramskoy art museum dedicated to the 200 anniversary of the O.F.v. Richter collection of ancient Egypt antiques. The aim of the exhibition is to unite European, Russian and Egyptian cultures.

– Historically, the collection has always belonged to the university: first to the Museum of antiques and arts of the Yuriev (Derpt) University, then, after WWI, it was stored for 20 years at Voronezh State University, – says Vladimir Dobromirov, the director of Kramskoy art museum.

– The museum and the university are allies and friends. Their common goal is to teach people, to pass on knowledge. The collection is 200 years old now, and half of this time, it has been associated with Voronezh, its university and its art museum. Today, I want to say thank you to the museum's staff on behalf of all my colleagues and all the University staff members. Thank you for your work, – said Rector's councillor Vladimir Listengarten.

The O.F.v. Richter's collection of ancient Egypt antiques stored at the Kramskoy art museum celebrates its 200 anniversary. It is the third largest collection of Ancient Egypt art in Russia. The museum hall where the collection was exhibited previously barely housed one fifth of it.  The museum staff together with the Egyptologists from Moscow decided to redecorate the hall for the anniversary, and now visitors have a chance see most items of the collection. The key feature about the collection is that it creates a comprehensive image of Ancient Egypt. Being the museum's partner, the Voloshin's library in Moscow provided the exhibition with the original engravings of the era together with some of the oldest books on the history of Egypt.

The exhibition is open till 1 March 2016.
