More and more schoolchildren and adults with an inquiring mind are visiting the Saturday lectures presented by the lecturers and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Biology and Soil Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmaceutics, the Faculty of Physics, and the Faculty of Chemistry of Voronezh State University. The audience is attracted by the simple language used by the speakers. As a result, the traditional Saturday lectures have grown into a unique event – “Saturday University”.

On 9 April, a postgraduate student of the Department of Ecology and Systematics of Invertebrates (the Faculty of Biology and Soil Sciences), Maria Klestchevnikova, revealed the secret of a long-term connection between entomology and forensic examination. She told the audience how a knowledge of insects can be used in criminalistics. The lecturer spoke about the history of forensic entomology and its modern techniques, and about special centres for anthropological research. After the lecture, the audience had a chance to meet a ‘pet’ from the Department of Ecology and Systematics of Invertebrates – a South African Blaberus cockroach.
