On 25 August, a delegation of the Republic of Indonesia headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary M. Wahid Supriyady arrived at Voronezh State University as a part of their visit to the Voronezh region. The honoured guests and representatives of the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia had a meeting with the university administration in the auditorium of the main building of Voronezh State University.

Presentation of the university started with an English version of a cartoon about the university produced by VSU Advertising Centre and the university-based Wizart Animation school. Then the VSU rector, Professor Dmitry Endovitsky, told the guests about the history of the university, its position in the international rankings, and its famous graduates.

‘Our strategic objectives include the training of highly qualified specialists for the hi-tech sector of the economy: radioelectronics, nuclear energy, chemical industries, and the aircraft industry. This year, school leavers from 76 territorial entities of the Russian Federation entered VSU. The level of their knowledge is quite high. VSU has both Russian and foreign students. We have trained international students since 1960s. Another area of our international activity is cooperation with leading international universities and creating double degree programmes and summer schools. I would like to say that between 2004 and 2016 we had 21 students from Indonesia. We know that Indonesian universities take very high position in international rankings. As for Voronezh State University, we have a lot of experience in international collaboration. Therefore, both our countries will benefit a lot from the cooperation. We can work together on educational projects, and our research can result in various combined innovative projects,’ said Dmitry Endovitsky.

‘During my visit to the Voronezh region I could see many possibilities for future cooperation between Russia and Indonesia. Cooperation development in education between Russia and Indonesia is one of my personal priorities. I am sure that we have huge potential for future cooperation that will enrich the educational processes in our countries. I would like to invite you to take part in various specialised events in Indonesia. It will give Indonesians an opportunity to learn more about your university and choose it as their future alma mater. From my part, I promise to support the development and strengthening of cooperation between your university and Indonesian universities. I would also be happy to assist in searching for partners in Indonesia,’ responded M. Wahid Supriyady.

The meeting was followed by a tour of VSU Shared Scientific Equipment Centre, organic synthesis laboratory at the Faculty of Chemistry, VSU History Museum, and Book Museum.
