British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) has published the BRICS & Emerging Economies University Rankings 2017. VSU was included in the rankings for the first time, taking 251–300th position among the best universities in the list, along with 24 other Russian universities.
This year the universities from 50 countries were ranked, but the Top-300 table includes the representatives of just 41 countries. It is of great significance that VSU was included in the ranking along with the best research universities and institutions of emerging economies.
The THE also published a table where the universities are ranked by subject. Our university took 10th position in the Russian Federation in “Biological Sciences”, 14th – in “Psychology”, 19th in “Physics and Astronomy”, 12th in “Chemistry”, 21st in “Mathematics & Statistics”, 16th in “Economics & Econometrics”, and 11th in “Law”.
Phil Baty, the editor of the THE World University Ranking, congratulated our university:
“The rankings use the same 13 performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings to judge institutions on their teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. They should also be able to compete with the leading universities of the other 50 emerging economies. We rank the best universities only from this group, so getting into the Top-300 list is a great achievement, and I am glad to congratulate VSU on it.”
VSU is the only university in the region that was included in this ranking.
