On 28 February, the Glenn Miller orchestra will give a concert in the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre. Glenn Miller was one of the most popular American musicians who became a jazz legend all over the world. He was a trombone player and a composer who played jazz since 1935. In 1937, he created his own orchestra, that was later on named after him. Since 1990, the orchestra has been directed by a pianist from Holland, Wil Salden. He has spent 15 years meticulously recreating Glenn Miller’s original compositions. He managed to find authentic note texts and orchestrations of the famous trombonist.

Today, the orchestra headed by Wil Salden is comprised of some of the best musicians from western Europe: Germany, Holland, France, and Italy. They play not only music by Glenn Miller but also music by Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Ella Fitzgerald.

The programme combines instrumental works and female and male vocals. The climax of each concert is the most famous composition by Glenn Miller, “Moonlight Serenade” from the film “Sun Valley Serenade”.
