Young researchers from the Department of Solid-State Physics and Nanostructures of the Faculty of Physics of Voronezh State University won a competition for grants by the German and Russian research centre, which was held as a part of the international cooperation between VSU and Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (Jena, Germany).
On 12 January, the results of the competition by the German and Russian research centre were announced. The grants, which are aimed at supporting research conducted by young researchers in Germany, were won by research assistants from the Department of Solid-State Physics and Nanostructures, Elena Parinova and Dmitry Kouda.
The grants will be used to cover the expenses within the research conducted as a part of the project “Synchronized spectromicroscopic studies of arrays of silicon nanowires”. It will be carried out between January and February 2017. To perform it the scientists will use the megascience device and the source of synchrotron radiation BESSY II at Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (Germany). The research will be conducted as a part of the agreement of cooperation between VSU and Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology.
‘We are going there at the end of January. The measurements are both important for my my dissertation (I have to finish some studies) and my professional development as I specialise in megascience facilities and sources of synchrotron radiation,’ said Dmitry Kouda.
