Between 13 and 18 March, Semyon Kurolap, Head of the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Monitoring of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, visited the University of Girona within the framework of the partnership agreement between VSU and the University of Girona, which is a part of Erasmus+ project.
The aim of his visit was to find new partners and promote academic activity in the sphere of environmental protection, and particularly conservation of valued landscapes, biodiversity, and nature reserves in Spain and Russia. The programme of the visit included the following events: a tour of protected natural areas of Catalonia with its various coastal, mountainous, and volcanic topography; lectures and workshops on various environmental issues; discussion of prospective joint research projects; and promotion of academic mobility programmes for graduate and postgraduate students.
As to the latter, a PhD student of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, Dmitry Sarychev, is now studying at the Faculty of History and Geography of the University of Girona within the framework of a three-month internship programme. Professor Joseph Subiros from the University of Girona is to come to VSU in May 2017, to give a series of workshops and master classes on environmental protection.
