The Head of Jean Monnet project, the Head of the Department of French Philology of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of Voronezh State University, Elena Alexeyeva, took part in the third International Jean Monnet day “Regions and Cooperation between Regions in the European Union” which was held in Lille (France) on 27 April.
The event was dedicated to the problems of regions as territorial and social and political entities that are intermediaries between the local government and the central administration. The event was organised by University Lille 1 in cooperation with the general regional council Hauts de France. Elena Alexeyeva gave a plenary presentation and led the discussion dedicated to the problem of “International cooperation with European countries as a factor of image making and identity of a region of the Russian Federation using the Voronezh region as an example”.
She presented the economical, innovative, cultural, and educational potential of the Voronezh region, as well as examples of its European cooperation. Elena Alexeyeva also talked about VSU’s achievements in the area of cooperation with European universities, the university’s participation in European Erasmus+ projects, and its ranking positions. The proposed topic triggered a heated discussion and numerous questions from the audience which included university staff, researchers, and representatives from the business community and public organisations.
Apart from the conference, Dr Alexeyeva met representatives of VSU’s partners, Lille 1 and Lille 3 universities, and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation.
