On 1 June, a concert by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Voronezh Philharmonic Hall was held in the concert hall of building № 6 of Voronezh State University. It should be noted that this event has become a good tradition for our university. Since 2015, twice a year, symphony orchestras has been playing wonderful music for the students and the staff of Voronezh State University.
The audience was welcomed by the art historian, professor Bronislav Tabachnikov.
The musicians of the Academic Symphony Orchestra led by maestro Igor Verbitsky presented their concert programme: the audience enjoyed the music by Gioachino Rossini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Petr Chaikovsky, Alexander Dragomyzhsky, and Igor Stravinsky. The event was concluded with a scene from “Polovetsian Dances” from the opera by Alexander Borodin “Prince Igor”. The vocal parts were performed by the leading singers of Voronezh Philharmonic Hall: Alexei Popov, Ainara Akberova, and Galina Leonova. Clarinettist, Svyatoslav Moskalenko, played “Violin cry”.
Bronislav Tabachnikov mentioned in his speech that this June the Academic Orchestra of Voronezh Philharmonic Hall finished 91st concert season. The orchestra was founded in 1925 and its creator and first conductor was Dmitry Akhsharumov. The orchestra promotes Russian and international heritage of classical music and is often the pioneer in performing outstanding works by contemporary composers.
