As part of the collaboration agreement between Voronezh State University and the National Chemical Engineering Institute in Paris (L'Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris), members of the VSU Faculty of Chemistry have taken part in the implementation of the research project of the "Interfaces, Electrochemistry, Energy" laboratory.
Oleg Kozaderov – Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry – spent June and July at the the National Chemical Engineering Institute in Paris, working on the problem of phase transformations during selective dissolution of Zn-Ni alloys. As a result of the research, scientists were able to obtain some unique electrochemical, microscopic, diffractometric, and spectrometric data. A theoretical model of the process was also built. Based on the results achieved, Oleg Kozaderov and his French colleagues prepared a report on the mechanisms for dealloying Zn-Ni coatings in a chloride solution, which was then presented at the EUROCORR international corrosion congress in Prague (Czech Republic).
Dmitriy Burlyaev, a master’s degree student of the Department of Physical Chemistry of Voronezh State University, completed a two-month internship course aimed at researching the degradation of metal-polymer systems for zinc and zinc-nickel carriers based on the data from local electrochemical impedance mapping. The results of his work were used in a joint report about the degradation at metal-polymer interfaces: a quantitative approach for in situ studies, which was presented in July at the international conference on nanomaterials in Aveiro (Portugal).
