On 14 December, a meeting to discuss 2018 festive events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of twin-city relations between Voronezh and the Chinese city of Chongqing was held in the building of Voronezh Government. Among the participants of the event were representatives of the Voronezh government, executive state organizations, and academia, including representatives of Voronezh State University, the Rector Dmitry Endovitsky, the Head of the Strategic Development Department, Elena Ivashinenko, and the Director of Kozo-Polyansky Botanical Garden, Andrey Voronin.
The meeting discussed the opportunity to create in Voronezh a park of Russian and Chinese friendship and to hold a number of cultural events dedicated to the anniversary of relations between the two countries. It was suggested building the park in VSU’s Botanical Garden. During the meeting, it was mentioned that the government of Chongqing is very interested in continuing cooperation and the development of tourism and academic contacts.
It is worth saying that VSU has been a long-term partner of the city. Every year, many Chinese interns come to VSU to do courses in various programmes. Chongqing has a Centre of Russian language and culture which was opened with the support of Voronezh State University.
