On 27 January, the presentation of a book by Valeria Kolesnikova, Head of the Department of the Television and Radio Journalism, took place in Amital bookshop.

The presentation was a part of the project “People read”, implemented by the Department of Pre-University Training and Enrolment of Students. Larisa Diakova, a leading specialist of the department and an associate professor at the Faculty of Journalism, was the moderator.

Valeria Kolesnikova successfully presented a book of poems for children “Orange wonders”. The presentation resembled a family celebration. A band played during the presentation. Children drew pictures, played games, and read poems from the book. The author was glad to answer all the questions from the audience that consisted mainly of mothers.

Valeria Kolesnikova says that she has always felt inspired by the Russian literature and poets of the Silver Age.

“My children always asked me to tell them something interesting. That’s how the book was created,” the author told us. “Some of the poems in this book could not have been written without my children. We try to find the right words together, to rhyme, to invent something. Children like having fun”.

The author of “Orange wonders” tried to look at the adult world through the eyes of children and put complex ideas into simple words. The book presents a number of real life situations, sometimes disguised or exaggerated.

“There are a number of almost non-fiction poems about a grandmother who has read that sour milk is good for health, so the whole family has to drink it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  There are also poems about a girl, Polya, and her family, and Polya is basically my daughter Polina,” said Valeria Kolesnikova.

The young visitors to the presentation liked the book. They felt the happiness in the poems. At the end of the presentation, all the children received a balloon, an orange, and a souvenir from VSU, and all the adults recieved signed books and a flood of positive emotions.
