V.I. Vernadsky non-governmental environmental foundation together with representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region and the Novovoronezh nuclear power station organised the “Green Spring 2018” at the B.M. Kozo-Polyansky Botanical Garden of Voronezh State University – a unique nature reserve of regional relevance.
“Green Spring” is a national volunteer clean-up event held annually by the V.I. Vernadsky non-governmental environmental foundation. The project was launched in 2014 and by now has been participated in by over 6.5 million people – mainly kids and teenagers – in 80 regions of the Russian Federation. “Green Spring” has become a national tradition, a federal-scale event, highly anticipated each year by a lot of people. It promotes environmental awareness and culture in Russia, and develops social responsibility in young people.
This year the participants removed weeds from the botanical collections, trimmed and planted trees and bushes, and removed unwanted shoots.
They also cleaned up the territory of the garden and threw away over 30 sacks of garbage.
