On 23 May, a presentation of a commemorative coin dedicated to VSU was held at the Voronezh Division of the Bank of Russia Main Branch for the Central Federal District. The 3-rouble silver coin was issued by the Bank of Russia in honour of the university's 100th anniversary.
On the front of the coin there is a relief image of the VSU’s Main Building with an open book in the background. The name – VORONEZH STATE UNIVERSITY – is written on top. On the left, there are laser engraved emblems of the university’s faculties. The number of issued coins is 2,000.
“The coin is very popular. To start with, there are 120 thousand VSU graduates. But there are also other people who may be interested, like coin collectors. The coins are distributed by commercial banks and are in high demand”, – said Sergey Chernyshov, deputy head of the Voronezh Division of the Bank of Russia Main Branch for the Central Federal District.
VSU is the third university in Russia that has its own commemorative coin. The other two universities are Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University.
