Lecturers of the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University took part in the third international conference “FILKO – Philology, Culture, and Education”. The event was organised by the Faculty of Philology of Goce Delcev University (Stip, Macedonia) and the Faculty of Philology of VSU.
It took place in Stip on 26 and 27 April and was physically attended by over seventy participants, including scientists from Macedonia, Russia, Germany, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Turkey. Among the speakers from VSU were the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Tatiana Ternova, the Head of the Department of Publishing, Zhanna Gracheva, Associate Professor from the Department of General Linguistics and Stylistics, Mariana Rosenfeld, and a postgraduate student from the Department of General Linguistics and Stylistics, Maria Lapygina. Over twenty linguists from Voronezh contributed to the conference with their correspondence.
The Rector of Goce Delcev University, Professor Blazho Boev, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Goce Delcev University, Professor Dragana Kuzmanovska, and the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University, DSc in Philology, Tatiana Ternova addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
The participants discussed issues of intercultural communications, the status of Slavic languages in the contemporary world, cultures and ethnic identity, cultural similarities between Russia and Macedonia, and mutual interaction of Russian and Macedonian linguistics.
The Macedonian media provided extensive coverage of the FILKO conference. In an interview, Voronezh researches told the audience about the long lasing cooperation between VSU’s Faculty of Philology and Macedonian universities, the participation of Voronezh students in the international workshop of Macedonian language, literature, and culture in Ohrid (organised by the Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje), deep-rooted traditions of teaching the Macedonian language at VSU’s Faculty of Philology, and the creation of the Balkan (Macedonian) centre at the faculty. Macedonian and Russian colleagues expressed their hope for the further development of the academic partnership between Russian and Macedonia.
The next, fourth FILKO conference will take place in 2019 at the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University.
