Voronezh State University joined the consortium of flagship universities of the state atomic energy corporation “Rosatom”. The decision was made during a meeting of the consortium with the participation of the university’s rector Dmitry Endovitsky. The members of the consortium voted unanimously for the inclusion of VSU in the membership.
‘Together with the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI we are going to take part in the work of the resource centre Novovoronezh. Moreover, VSU can qualify for employer-sponsored training of international specialists for nuclear power plants in Russia and over 40 countries worldwide which are involved in cooperation with Rosatom, including the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. Rosatom supported this initiative. Also, the university is going to develop practice oriented secondary vocational education programmes, provide advanced training, and conduct applied research for the state corporation,’ said Dmitry Endovitsky.
The consortium of flagship universities was created to “coordinate activities in higher, postgraduate and vocational education, and research beneficiary to the atomic industry.” Graduation from a university that belongs to the consortium can provide students with an opportunity to be employed by the state corporation and its subsidiaries. It should be noted that VSU is the only university in the Black Earth region that has such a status.
Prior to the introduction of VSU to the consortium the university and the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant signed a cooperation agreement.
