On 15 May, the opening ceremony of the national stage of the International Conference and Competition “Innovations in Chemistry and High Molecular Compounds Technologies” dedicated to the university’s centenary opened in the conference hall of Voronezh State University. Its goal is to determine new areas in Chemistry and in the field of the production and application of polymers and polymer composites.
The participants of the event included representatives of a Chinese delegation: Chinese Educational Association of Chemical Industry, Chinese science and research bureau, Rubber Valley Group Co, and a number of Russian universities. Among them were representatives from Voronezh State University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Technological University, Lomonosov Moscow State University of Fine Chemical Technologies, Volgograd State Technical University, Bashkir State University, Ufa State Oil Technical University, Voronezh State Agricultural University, and Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies.
The conference was visited by staff members of the Nesmeyanov Institute of Organo-Element Compounds of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Voronezh branch of Lebedev Research Institute for Synthetic Rubber, and AO Voronezhsintezkauchuk.
The rector of VSU, Professor Dmitry Endovitsky, welcomed the participants of the event. In his speech he mentioned that the day before, on 14 May, the head of the Chinese delegation, the president of Rubber Valley Group Co, Ltd, Zhang Yan, had a meeting with the provisional governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, where he discussed the possibility of creating a representative office of Russian and Chinese Centre for the transfer of technologies. It will evaluate promising innovative projects for which a 115 mln rouble investment fund will be created. The most promising projects which can find a market niche will be evaluated by Russian and Chinese experts.
‘An approach which involves an investment fund, technologies, and entrepreneurs who are ready to implement large scale projects located in the Voronezh region is a real breakthrough which has happened for the first time in our region. Alexandre Gusev promised to do everything possible to make this mechanism of investments, innovations by Voronezh universities, and technological entrepreneurship work in Voronezh,’ said Dmitry Endovitsky.
‘We have a long-standing strategic and economic friendship between Russia and China. To strengthen our positions on the global market we have to start from education because this is the foundation for the development of economy and business. Talented students are the future of science and the cooperation between our countries’, said the Head of the Chinese delegation, the president of Rubber Valley Group Co, Ltd, Zhang Yan.
After that, the participants of the conference presented their reports. At the end of the day, the results were summarized. The six best reports were highly praised by the expert committee of the conference. The winners received cash certificates. Now, they can take part in the final stage of the competition that will take place in China.
During the conference, the ceremony of opening of Russian and Chinese centre for the transfer of high molecular compounds technologies and a Rubber Valley office took place in VSU.
16 May was the last day of the forum in Voronezh State University.
