Another academic year came to an end. It is a good tradition in Voronezh State University to celebrate it with a musical concert. Academic Symphony Orchestra and the folk group "Voronezhskiye devchata" gave a concert in the University Hall in university building № 6.
"Traditions are even more valuable if you want to keep them willingly. Our university has a lot of traditions of this kind and one of them is the tradition of wonderful symphonic concerts. Today's concert has gathered university staff, students, friends and honourable guests of the university. We have held our breath waiting for something fantastic. Today's concert is an unforgettable gift from the masters of music. Let's enjoy it," said the Rector of the university, Dmitry Endovitsky, in his welcoming speech.
The art historian, Professor Bronislav Tabachnikov, also gave a speech before the concert.
"Traditions re-enforce connections between people and culture. Traditions are passed from generation to generation and they provide what people expect. Today we are going to have an unusual event – it will bring together classical music and folk music. This is the "twist" that we have prepared for you".
The famous master of ceremonies told the audience that Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Philharmonic Hall ended the 92nd concert season in June. He also said that it is one of the most honourable and glorious orchestras in Russia. The State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Federation has recently celebrated its 80th anniversary whereas Tchaikovsky State Academic Big Symphony Orchestra was only created in 1930. (Today, its artistic director and conductor is Vladimir Fedoseyev).
The folk music group "Voronezhskiye devchata" also took part in the concluding concert. The repertoire of the folk group is comprised of the folklore of the Central Black Earth region and popular Russian folk and author songs. They focus on sensual and admirable female lyrical songs.
