Scientists from the Faculty of Physics of Voronezh State University conducted a research and revealed substances, the high presence of which, can indicate the development of caries. They studied changes that take place in the molecular composition of the saliva of people with multiple caries and found a way to prevent the disease during the early stages with the help of artificial materials. Biometrical materials, created by human, have some of the qualities characteristic of natural materials. University innovators conducted the research in cooperation with scientists from Voronezh State Medical University and Central Research Institute of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the support of the grant of the Russian Science Foundation.
The developed method will be used to detect the development of caries during the early stages. This is the stage when caries are reversible and the affected tooth can be restored with the help of therapeutic methods and new biomaterial. The results of the research were published in EPMA Journal.
