Prior to the Children's Day, students from the Borisoglebsk branch of Voronezh State University organised a real holiday in the Borisoglebsk rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities "Zhuravlik".
The highlight of the event was the puppet play "How Aibolit treated animals". It was a special play because children with disabilities from the centre "Zhuravlik" played their roles together with actors from the students' puppet theatre "Bi-ba-bo". They had spent almost two months learning their lines and rehearsing. And the performance was a success! The debutants received a long applause and memorable presents - glove puppets which had been made by students.
The students' puppet theatre "Bi-ba-bo" was created in the Borisoglebsk branch of Voronezh State University a year ago. However, it is already well-known in the city thanks to its volunteer work. For over a year they have given 15 performances in various children's institutions (kindergartens, schools, children's rehabilitation centre "Zhuravlik", and children's municipal library), they have also taken part in a reconstruction event, re-enacting Borisoglebsk of 19th century, and the Day of the City. Over 400 children have had a chance to see their fascinating puppet plays.
The joint plays of "Bi-ba-bo" actors and children from the rehabilitation centre "Zhuravlik" is a part of an important social project "For the Children's Delight" by students from the Borisoglebsk branch of VSU. In April 2018, this project took third place in the VSU contest "Best socially important project" and received the support of the Endowment Fund in the amount of 47 thousand roubles.
Today, the "Bi-ba-bo" team is comprised of 20 students. Among their future plans are preparation of new plays (including the ones in cooperation with the children from the centre "Zhuravlik") and inviting more students from pedagogical faculties to their team and to attract them to the performing art and to volunteer work. This project not only brings joy to children, but also helps them to socialise and contributes to psychological improvements. It provides unique inclusive practise to students who will be teachers in future.
