The 13th International swimming tournament "Saint-Petersburg OPEN 2018" took place in the swimming centre in Saint Petersburg. A senior coach from the swimming pool of Voronezh State University, Yury Perin, took part in the event as an authorised representative of the Swimming Federation "Masters". Apart from supervising compliance with the rules of international swimming federation FINA, Yury participated in the contest himself and became a two time champion of the prestigious tournament, winning in the 100 and 200-meter backstrokes.
Earlier, the 27th Russian Masters swimming championship took place in Obninsk. This year, three coaches from the swimming pool of VSU took part in the national competitions: Ludmila Bukhtaeva, the bronze winner of the 2015 World championship, Natalia Ismailova, and Yury Perin. Ludmila Bukhtaeva took third place in a relay race as a member of the Voronezh team "Spartak". Natalia Ismailova became two time silver winner in the 50 and 100-meter backstrokes and a two time bronze winner in the relay race. At Russian Masters Championship, VSU staff member, Yury Perin was an authorised representative of the Swimming Federation "Masters". Yury also participated in the contest himself and became a three time champion of Russia, winning the gold medal in the 50, 100, and 200-meter backstrokes. As a member of the Voronezh team he also won a full set of medals (gold, silver, and bronze) in the relay race.
Theory and practice are inseparable. That is why VSU coaches are active athletes who share their skills and success with the children who learn to swim in the swimming pool of Voronezh State University and encourage them to get the best results.
