For the first time in seven years a Russian team has become a finalist team of the international competition "Atos IT Challenge". The team includes students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences of Voronezh State University. The results were announced on 20 June in Paris. This year over 200 teams from 27 countries took part in the competition.
Our students Maria Zhykhareva, Alexander Olferuk, Evgenyi Kashin, and Nikita Pokidyshev presented their project “Masterpiece”. It is a chatbot application that helps users find new exhibitions in the city and buy tickets using the application. It also gives information about pictures and their author using the image recognition function.
Another two finalists are teams from the University of Texas and Columbia University (USA). The results will be announced on 3 July as a part of Atos Technology Days in Paris.
The winning team will receive €10,000 to help them bring their app to market and the two other finalists €5,000 and €3,000 respectively.
“It is astonishing that there are so many inventive students all over the world. They managed to find artistic solutions and ways to use AI and chatbots both in business and in private life. That's incredible! I believe we’ve made an outstanding contribution to the future,” - said Senior Executive Vice-President of he company, Gilles Grapinet.
The winners and finalists of the IT Challenge will also be invited to complete internships at the company.
