Our scientists discuss the long-term development of the pharmaceutical industry in Russia

On 4 June, expert workshop took place at Voronezh State University. It was dedicated to  module academic programmes of higher education and continuing the professional development that ensures the future development of the pharmaceutical industry in Russia. The event was organised by the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of Voronezh State University.

Academic programmes were also developed by a team from the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology within the project “Development of a model system of multilevel advanced training of specialists for the long-term development of the pharmaceutical industry in the Russian Federation”. The project is implemented within Activity 5.22 “Development of New Academic Programmes and Educational Modules for Profession-Oriented Institutions of Higher Education and Secondary Educational Institutions” of the Federal target programme “Development of the Pharmaceutical and the Medical Industries of the Russian Federation for the period up to the 2020 and beyond”.

At the workshop VSU was represented by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmaceutics. Some participants of the conference took part in it by video conferencing. For example, representatives of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Department of Industrial Pharmacy, Centre of Non-Clinical Studies and Centre of Pharmacological Technologies of the Institute of Translational Medicine and Biotechnology), Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (Department of Organisation of Non-Clinical and Clinical Studies), Berbekov Kabardino-Balkarian State University (Institute of Chemistry and Biology), Siberian State Medical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University of Fine Chemical Technologies, PHARMENTERPRISES, and Tula Pharmaceutical Factory.

The agenda of the workshop included the discussion of the structure of main academic programmes in Biology within the profile “Theory Basis of Non-Clinical Study of Medicinal Products”. The participants of the event prepared a number of reports on the topic. They also discussed the structure of main academic programmes for postgraduate students in Biological Sciences, i.e. “Non-Clinical Studies of Medicinal Products”, and further professional development programme “Prediction of Safety of Medicinal Products for Human Health and the Environment”.

In September 2018, Voronezh State University plans to test some modules of the developed academic programmes.
