On 9 July, the provisional governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, held a meeting in order to discuss the activities of the Department of Education, Science, and Youth Policy of the Voronezh Region, the university community, and the municipal bodies, aimed at organising the events within the Year of Education and Science in the Voronezh Region in 2018.
The Rector of Voronezh State University, Dmitry Endovitsky, talked about the preparations for the 100th anniversary of the university. This year, with the support of the Department of Education, Science, and Youth Policy of the Voronezh Region, VSU held the Federal Student Tournament of Three Sciences, an interregional open festival of robotics, ROBOART, an interregional patriotic festival and competition “Heirs of Victory”, Innovation League, and other competitions and events. The State Duma of the Russian Federation held an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of VSU, and the Bank of Russia issued a silver coin dedicated to our university.
The major festivities will take place on 15 September coinciding with the Day of the City. This will be the key event of the celebrations. The university students, teachers, and alumni, as well as international guests, will march through the city centre.
The festivities will then take place at the Sovetskaya square with lecture centres, workshops, and educational activities.
Dmitry Endovitsky also said that a lot of the events dedicated to the university’s centenary were held thanks to close collaboration with the government of the region.
