On 29 November, the European Management Centre (Brussels, Belgium) held a meeting of coordinators of new projects in the area of European studies within the Erasmus+ programme “Jean Monnet Actions projects – finding solutions to the challenges of modern Europe”. The meeting was organised by the Education, Audiovisual, and Culture Executive Agency.
The aim of the meeting was to inform the coordinators about the rules of implementation of various types of projects in the area of European studies within the Erasmus+ programme, and to establish collaboration between project coordinators from different countries and universities.
The meeting gathered over 300 representatives of leading universities and research centres from 50 countries specialising in European studies and international relationships. VSU was represented by the director of the International Project and Programme Centre, Alla Akulshina, and an interpreter, Anna Nedzelskaya.
Last September, VSU became the coordinator of the research network within Jean Monnet Actions project “POWERS – Peace and War in European Security Challenges”. The strategic aim of the project is to contribute to the resolution of the differences and arguments concerning the perception of the notion of international security by various participants of international relationships (EU, Russia, Middle East, Turkey); to develop a multilateral approach to the European security challenges; to form a unified view of the European security threats; and to encourage political dialogue on geopolitical and religious issues.
Following the competition held in 2018, Jean Monnet Actions approved 18 scientific papers, including the one on POWERS – the only approved project that is coordinated by a Russian university.
